A Christmas Bauble Tutorial.


Materials
dk cotton
4ply gold yarn (I use Twilley's Goldfingering)
3.5mm crochet hook
2.5mm crochet hook
stuffing


Abbreviations

ch = chain
slst = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
st/s = stitch/es
sk = skip
BLO =back loop only


For the bauble
Round 1. Using dk cotton and a 3.5mm crochet hook, ch 2, 6dc into the 2nd ch from the hook.

Round 2. *2sc into each st. *Repeat until end. (12)
Round 3. *1sc, 2 sc into the next st. *Repeat until end. (18)
Round 4. *2sc, 2 sc into the next sc. *Repeat until end. (24)
Round 5. *3sc, 2sc into the next st. *Repeat until end. (30)
Round 6. *4sc, 2sc into the next st. *Repeat until end. (36)
Rounds 7-11. 1sc into each st.
Round 12. *5sc, sk one st. *Repeat until the end of the round. (30)
Round 13. *4sc, sk one st. *Repeat until the end of the round. (24)
Round 14. *3sc, sk one st. *Repeat until the end of the round. (18)
Round 15. *2sc, sk one st. *Repeat until end of the round. (12)
Stuff firmly.
Round 16. Repeat round 15. (9)
Round 17 *1sc into every second st. *Repeat until the end of the round.
Bind off securely drawing the yarn through the last few stitches with a needle.


For the attachment for which we have decided the name of Toggle.
Round 1. Using dk cotton and a 3.5mm crochet hook, ch 2, 6dc into the 2nd ch from the hook.

Round 2. *2sc into each st. *Repeat until end. (12)
Rounds 3-4. 1sc into every st until the end of the round.
Bind of securely leaving a long tail of at least 30 cm.



Using the tail, sew the toggle onto the top of the bauble.
After it is attached, draw the thread up through the top of the toggle in preparation for the loop. Pull the thread across the top of the toggle leaving a long loop and then... Draw the needle back through to form a knot and tuck the thread back down into the bauble. Voila!!!
